Este es mi Bio (aka Vitae), de acuerdo a mi mismo, ya que no he contratado todavía a un biógrafo para que escriba mi biografía.
Nací en Monterrey NL México en 1962, por lo que no soy de la llamada Generación X, aunque me guste el Internet. Estudie Ingeniero en Sistemas Electrónicos en el ITESM Campus Monterrey y me gradue en 1983, después de un año de estar en una pequeña empresa como empleado ingrese al ITESM Campus Monterrey como profesionista de apoyo.
Ayude a la introducción de los servicios de Internet en dicha institución en 1989 en donde llegue a desempeñarme como Director de Tecnología Computacional en la Dirección de Informática y en donde administraba más de 30 servidores Unix (entre ellos RS/6000, HP 9000 y NeXT), un bonche de estaciones de trabajo, un Mainframe y hasta una Supercomputadora. Participé en la introducción de los equipos NeXT en el Instituto. Así mismo participe en la definición de los servicios de cómputo académico en esa institución y participe en la creación del CESTEC (Centro de Supercómputo para la Tecnología, la Educación y la Ciencia). He estado en Internet desde esas fechas.
En 1989, junto con Daniel Trujillo (quien ahora vive en New York) fuimos al SRI (Stanford Research Institute) quien administraba el NIC en ese entonces y conseguimos la administración del servidor de nombres para el dominio MX (el cual fue el precursor del NIC MX. Ayude a poner en funcionamiento el primer servidor de WWW en el ITESM, el cual fue uno de los primeros servidores de WWW en Mexico. En 1994 participe en el comite que Jeffrey Fernandez de la UDG formó para la creación del CENCAR (Centro de Cómputo de Alto Rendimiento). Ese mismo año, decidí salir de ITESM con el objetivo de promover Internet y sistemas abiertos en una empresa llamada Corporación en Investigación Tecnológica e Informática, la cual actualmente cuenta con 37 profesionales en el equipo de trabajo y fuimos los primeros en ofrecer servicios de soporte a soluciones en Internet.
Soy miembro de ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) y de la IEEE. Estoy casado con una profesionista y mujer maravillosa que esta estudiando su Doctorado en Administración en el ITESM Campus Monterrey y tenemos una hija nacida en mayo de 1993. He impartido conferencias en México y en el extranjero en particular en los eventos organizados por Educom.
Aunque me gusta en particular Linux, he usado de todo sistema operativo que he encontrado incluyendo VM/CMS,Mac OS, Mac OS X, BeOS, NeXTStep, Solaris, AIX y HP UX. Además de usar Windows 2000.
Por último me interesó mucho el Cluetrain Manifesto.
Escribo sobre Tecnología de Información en Bitcasting el cual edito diariamente y lo genero usando herramientas en Linux y Mac OS X.
Los libros que recientemente he leido son: Good To Great de Jim Collins, Managing Information Security Risks de Cristopher Alberts y Audrey Dorofee, El Misterio del Capital de Hernando de Soto, Information Systems Security Officer's Guide de Gerald L. Kovacich, Just For Fun de Linus Torvalds, Leading The Revolution. De Gary Hamel y The Innovator's Dilemma, de Clayton M. Christensen.
This is my bio, obviously according to me, I have not yet hired a biographer to write my biography:
I was born at Monterrey, NL, Mexico on June 1962, so I am not part og the generation X, but still I like Diet Pepsi and the Internet. I studied Electronical Systems Engineering at ITESM Campus Monterreyand got my bachelors degree on June 1983, after working on a small company I join ITESM Monterrey Campus as a support consultant.
Back in 1989 I helped this institution to introduce Internet services for faculty and students, my position was Director of Information technology Services reporting to the IT VP, at ITESM I used to manage about 30 Unix servers (among them RS/6000's, HP 9000's and NeXT's), a bunch of Unix Workstations, a Mainframe, and even a supercomputer. Also, I helped on the definition of Academic Computing Services there, and on the creation of a supercomputing center there. When I worked at ITESM we used to give computing services to 15,000 students and about 2000 faculty.
In 1989, I went to Menlo Park, with the networking director at ITESM a person named Daniel Trujillo, specifically to SRI (Stanford Research Institute) who used to manage domain names back then, and we got the managment for the .mx domain which with time got into the NIC MX (Mexican Network Information Center).
Also helped to set up the first WWW server at ITESM, which was one of the first WWW servers in Mexico. Also in 1994 I was invited by Jeffrey Fernandez from Universidad de Guadalajara to work on the first meeting for the creation of the CENCAR (Center for High performance Computing) at UDG. By the end of that year I decided to move to a new company, named Corporacion en Investigacion tecnologica e Informatica with the objective to promote Internet and open systems, now a days the company has 37 IT professionals on its team. The company was the first local company to offer technical support services for companies that were joining to the Internet. I am member of ACM and IEEE. I am married with a wonderful woman and professional, who is studing her PHd on Management at ITESM, and we have a daughter born in 1993 (she was four when painted this).
I been invited to give conferences in Mexico and USA, mainly at EDUCOM.
Even I like Linux in particular, I have used VM/CMS and some Unix flavors as AIX, IRIX, HPUX, also BeOS, Mac OS & Mac OS X. And even W2K. I own about 11 personal computers (even 3 Apple Mac's).

My name is David Trevino, I been on the Internet since 1988. I used to work at ITESM, a mexican private university that lead the way to other mexican universities and companies to the Internet.
I like Linux, MacOS X, NeXTStep, OpenStep and Objects. JAVA is OK. I use Linux and Mac OS X tools to produce my daily e-bulletin called Bitcasting.
